History
Erikson Kade (better known as Rik, known better yet simply as Kade) has spent near all his days under the desert sun. He was born on July 25th of 2038 into a caravan of scavengers, people from a settlement to the north who set out on a search for a new place to make their home when water supplies dried up. While they occasionally found new settlements, none had enough supplies to support them on top of their own members, so they turned to trade on their travels as they made their way south.
Erikson's father, Rock Kade, was not originally from the caravan. He was actually a former caravan raider whose burden of conscience weighed on him to the point that he decided to sell his gun as a guard to the caravan. In time he became romantically involved with a female healer of the caravan named Madison. Their relationship was spurred by his frequent injuries (both actual and conjured) in the course of his work.
Over time, Rock taught Erikson the skills and attitude necessary to his trade, though the the latter was more a hidden curriculum than anything. From his father, Erikson also inherited what would have been thought of in prior times as a farm boy's build; tall and broad-shouldered, and he showed a natural aptitude for shooting and athletics. He also helped to load and unload supplies from the caravan, and by the time he had reached his full height he was also exceptionally fit, and hardened by the elements.
It was through random chance that the Kades' caravan found the Dome in 2055. Most of the members of the caravan made an effort to find a place for themselves in the Dome, viewing it as if it was the Promised Land they had set out to find. Among these were Rock and Madison. To Erikson, however, the Dome seemed more like a retirement home. Not that he knew what one of those was. He met some scavengers from New Florence. He decided to travel with them back to New Florence. While there, Kade met two people who would change the course of his life: a young woman his age named Aura, and Mayor William Rienert. The latter ended up becoming his employer, while the former eventually became his wife.
Today, Erikson works as the Chief Deputy to Rienert. He's proud of his job, and he enjoys it. Even on the quiet days. It fits in with his principles; while he likes to consider himself one of the biggest badasses around, he also likes to think his role as number one badass is to keep the lesser badasses in line. He's not interested in using his power to further his own interests, either, although he does think of it as a license to carry the biggest gun. He's a fairly friendly type to those who haven't crossed him, and he tends to consider all others his equal (in rights, at least, if not badassery). The only exceptions are Rienert and Aura, the only two people who can order him around without a problem. He inherited and adapted his mother's Baptist views, and it's his belief in a greater good that keeps him in line in his work. He also has a surprisingly white smile for a Survivor - he sends for toothpaste from the Dome each week and uses it almost religiously.

Kade doesn't have any special powers, other than his supernatural sense of dental hygiene for a Survivor.
Equipment
Kade personally owns a 12-gauge pump action shotgun and a .30 caliber hunting rifle, as well as a Glock 17, all of which he carries on his person when he's on duty. He has a fairly decent supply of ammunition for each, especially the Glock. He also owns his own set of body armor, including ceramic plating on his stomach, elbows, knees, and chest. He has a helmet that he prefers not to wear unless he's actually on mission.
Skills
Combat & Survival: Kade is a good shot with most guns, as well as being skilled at unarmed combat. He knows how to maintain most firearms and is experienced in the use of burst fire and full automatic fire. He also has fairly quick reflexes; hence his survival for this long as a fighter in the wastes. He's also got an eye for scavenging and some talent for stealth, although his size can be an issue in that regard. In a stand-up fight or for intimidation purposes, though, his 6'5 muscular frame tends to be less of a liability and more of an asset.
