Sometime in the future, mankind will face something that it has not faced in a long time.
Extinction
Citizens of New Phoenix ('The Dome') were protected from the radiation of the nuclear holocaust, and have grown up under a man who distills beliefs that all can cooperate in rebuilding the scarred earth. They however do realize that without a great deal of effort and alliances, humankind as they know it will end.
In their place, as if the new environment formed by thousands of megatons birthed them, have arisen the Mutants.
First: They were treated with kindness
Then: They were disliked for their differences
Now: They were feared for their existence
Many mutants will kill humans on sight, others will try to mutually live with them, while others regret being mutants and try their best to blend in with humanity. It is not known what the future lies for those mutated by this new earth, only whispers of both a dark and miserable existence or the brief sparks of one that will put the previous generations to shame.
And of those who wander the wastes, Survivors, humans who were lucky enough (or unlucky enough) to have endured almost a hundred years of radioactive desert and water. They have shuffled along, maintaining small communities scattered throughout. They have embraced many mutants and citizens as trading partners, but they are a bit leery of both groups. The citizens wish to reclaim and reform the earth back to the way it was, while the Mutants seem determined to be the ultimate inhabiter of the earth.
